Designer of the Moment ... Denis Gagnon

Denis Gagnon is the Montreal designer whose meticulously cut crafted pieces (many made with leather and silk) have been garnering more and more attention outside of La Belle Province. Aside from showcasing his masterful designs at his Old Montreal boutique (pictured above), Gagnon has been accessing the masses and showing us just how artful fashion really is with these creative, brand-building initiatives:

It's only fitting that these two quintessentially Montreal fashion institutions would team up. For Spring 2011, Gagnon designed some seriously sexy shoes in support of a cause that were sold exclusively at his boutique:

Let's hope the collaborations keep coming. Gagnon also created a gorgeous collection for retailer Bedo last fall.

In honour of the National Ballet of Canada's Production of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Gagnon designed this gorgeous dress which was showcased during Luminato, Toronto's annual festival of creativity.

A stunning exhibit at the MMFA showcased just how sculptural Gagnon's designs are. Gagnon started out as a costume designer and you can see how well he honed his craft during those years. His pieces truly are wearable art!
